NewRun Lviv Marathon

The first NewRun Lviv Marathon: for the first time the streets of old Lviv become a real marathon course. The start is on Svobody Avenue.

Route

The route runs through landmark locations, old streets and squares of central Lviv. Time limits: 42 km — 6 hours, 21 km — 3 hours, 10 km — 1 hour 30 minutes, 5 km — 45 minutes.

Schedule

Friday, 24 September — race pack pickup (the organiser will publish hours and address later).

Saturday, 25 September — race pack pickup and kids’ races.

Sunday, 26 September

• 09:05 — 42 km start;
• 09:30 — 21 km start;
• 12:05 — 10 km start;
• 13:30 — 5 km start.

Race pack and pickup

Race packs are handed out the day before the start, with no pickup on race day. You need your personal QR code from the RaceNext app. Packs for participants under 18 are given only to a parent or legal guardian with the QR code of the registering profile and the child’s ID. Foreign citizens must also show medical insurance covering sports competitions. Pack contents per distance are listed in the app; pickup time and place will be announced separately.

On the course

Hydration points are placed at least every 5 km and food points at least every 10 km; turns and U-turns are signed, kilometre marks are shown, and navigation volunteers and medics work along the route. Timing is electronic, and judges also record the times of the first five men and five women by hand. The start corridor opens 10 minutes before the start; running with headphones is not allowed. The race village has changing rooms, a baggage deposit and toilets.

Awards

The winner is determined by gun time. Overall medallists are not awarded in age categories; awarded age categories are 40–49, 50–59 and 60+ (60–69 and 70+ separately if there are 5 or more participants aged 70+). If a category has fewer than 5 participants, only 1st place is awarded. Results are published as an overall ranking and by age categories 13–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59 and 60+; the preliminary protocol appears within 24 hours after the course closes, and results can be disputed within 72 hours.

Air-raid alert

If an air-raid alert is declared in the city before the start, the start is suspended and moved by 1 hour; this does not count as postponing the event. During the race each participant decides whether to go to a shelter. If the alert lasts more than 2 hours, the organiser may postpone or cancel the event.

Registration and refunds

Registration is open until 18:00 on 25 September 2027. Participant limits: 42 km — 1,000, 21 km — 1,500, 10 km — 1,200, 5 km — 700.

Registration is in the RaceNext app: create a participant profile, choose the event and distance, and pay. Minors are registered by a parent or legal guardian from their own profile. Entry fees are not refunded. The optional “Start fee insurance” service can only be added during registration and compensates 100% of the slot cost if the event is cancelled or postponed for reasons beyond the organiser’s control, or in case of illness, injury or exceptional family circumstances (contact support at least 24 hours before the start, with a supporting document). The service itself costs UAH 250 and is not refunded.

You can change the distance or transfer your registration to another person under “My events” — “Manage registration”; each change costs UAH 300, and moving to a more expensive distance requires paying the difference.

Discounted registration: send a scan of a document confirming your category to [email protected], stating the city and distance. Participants in these categories can make up to 20% of paid distances.
