What is an obstacle course race?

An obstacle course race (OCR) is a run with natural and man-made obstacles along the course: walls, ropes, carries, crawls, mud and water. The best-known series is Spartan Race with Sprint (5 km), Super (10 km), Beast (21 km) and Ultra (50 km) distances.

How many obstacle course races are held in Ukraine in 2026?

The VsiProbihy calendar lists 7 obstacle course races in 4 cities in 2026; 1 is still ahead.

Why are these races not listed with half marathons and other distances?

Obstacles make the time incomparable with a road race of the same length, so a 21 km Spartan Beast is not a half marathon. Obstacle course races have their own page, and the distance pages list running events only.
